Welcome
This short course in functional anatomy has been created as a supplemental learning aid for students currently enrolled in the anatomy component of a 200-hour yoga teacher training program with ASFYT. It consists of the following four modules:
The first module provides (1) an introduction to key terms, a general overview of the skeletal and muscular systems, and a bit of information about the effects of yoga on the nervous and circulatory systems. Modules two through four include a more detailed study of the bones, joints, muscles and common injuries specific to the (2) axial skeleton, (3) lower extremities, and (4) upper extremities, as well as suggestions for how to strengthen and stretch specific muscle groups. The online component of this training includes presentation slides, video lectures and open-book quizzes for each of the above modules.
